Property of the Week….Great Beginnings….Darien Homes.

Back in the “salad days” when a great home came on the market, potential buyers often had to decide  “on the spot” whether or not to purchase it. Since Darien is such a great community and with mortgage money flowing freely, there was A frenzy among potential homeowners.Now, even as an agent, I can’t get used to it when a great house is listed and then doesn’t sell quickly.

Harbor Point,101 Park Place,Stamford CT Brand New Rentals

Last week, I had the opportunity to visit 101 Park Place , a brand new luxury rental building that has just opened in the new Harbor Point development in Stamford, CT.In case you don’t know,Harbor Point is an amazing project.It bills itself as “lifestyle oriented community” that marries urban convenience with waterfront living.

The development is massive in scale and will,when all is said and done, house residential,office, hotel and retail development contained within five distinct neighborhoods.Harbor Point is located in what was Stamford Ct’s industrial area and is a giant work in progress.

Anyway, last week I saw the apartments at 101 Park Place and was very impressed.The building is 15 stories tall and has one,two and three bedroom units that are state of the art and incredibly affordable for Fairfield County.

Theres a lovely lobby and lots of amenities in the building; a gym,concierge,garaged parking,private terraces,stainless steel appliances and more.There is even a shuttle that runs every 15 minutes to the Stamford Metro North station.

Noroton Heights In Line for a Facelift,Darien Real Estate

Noroton Heights is a neighborhood within the Town of Darien.It is currently anchored by a series of strip mall style o retail establishments located across the street from the Noroton Heights Metro North train station. A local developer, Tom Golden, has submittedand been approved for new,mixed use  development zone that will incorporate retail,  office,and residential space.It’s a sorely needed project in an area of town with a dense population .See the details below as published online at Darien Patch.

Noroton Heights Commuter Parking, Town Seeks Fee Increase

This was published last week in the Darien Times.Seems kind of counter intuitive to me. The people hoarding the passes get squeezed out(and I suppose rightly so) and the guys who commute every day and play by the rules get to pay the increase on an ongoing basis.Seems like the clear winner here is the Town of Darien. Darien Property of the Week,17 Ridgeview,$725,000

OK Im shameless and I admit it. I am indeed promoting my own listing.This one is a really cute 3 bedroom home on a really lovely street here in Darien called Ridgeview.Ridgeview is off of Camp Ave not far from the Stamford border and the neighborhood of Springdale. The street is a dead end and full of farmhouses and cottages. Most of the lots and 17 Ridgeview is no exception, are sited on less than .25 acres.The street is full of well cared for homes with beautiful gardens out front which lines Ridgeview with flowers.

Great New, Stamford, Ct. Rentals …The Lofts at Harbor Point

I wish I had a dollar for every phone call we’ve received at William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty for reasonable rental apartments.Typically,people are looking for apartments near to the train in the $2000-$4000/month range. Young professionals who are not ready to buy, but work in the Stamford area are particularly interested in these properties.Its not an easy find,until now. Read the rest of this entry »

Wholy Cow! Darien Whole Foods Is Here….

I’ve only been to a  Whole Foods market once before.There is one in Greenwich,Ct and the experience was less than enjoyable. The parking lot was impossible to navigate, the aisles were narrow and crowded and  the prices too high.

Well, that was then and this is now.I can honestly say I have never seen a supermarket like thisnew Whole Foods that opened in Darien last week. It  doesn’t do it justice to describe it as a supermarket or just to tell you that they carry every type of fruit and vegetable you’ve ever seen.
