100 Great Things about Darien,CT-The Sugar Bowl

Just a few doors down from Griebs,(which I wrote about in my last post) is a nifty little place called The Sugar Bowl. It is a luncheonette in the old fashioned sense of the word and a favorite stop for young and old alike. The breakfasts are particularly popular. Great eggs,omelets pancakes etc. Young Moms love to bring their broods at lunchtime for grilled cheese  or peanut butter  and jelly in an atmosphere where kids are not just welcomed, but celebrated.

“How so?” you ask. Well, step into the Sugar Bowl to see some of the craziest decor anywhere. Almost every month, the Sugar Bowl in downtown Darien,decorates its ceiling with dozens items correlating to the season or upcoming holidays. This month is decorated for Valentines Day as you can see.

Service is quick, the food is simple but good and you can sit at a table or at an old fashioned counter with stools.
